Michelle Resendiz – Chicago, Il.
I have been flooded with some amazing beauty and fashion questions from all of you, and let me just say GREAT QUESTION’S! I love trying to help answer some everyday issues with some simple solutions.
Ask Michelle is another one of our weekly columns where you send me your questions Michelle@affairsmagazine.com, and I write your answers here. Basically, like a fashionable “Dear Abbey”. Your Identity is always kept private, and I will never judge or poke fun.
There are some serious issues in the world right now, and I believe the best way through them is a helping hand from someone who cares about what’s going on. I may not personally know any of you, but I do care about the well-being and feelings of others. SO, if you do happen to stumble upon this blog and you don’t have a fashion question but you have a real issue or concerns, write to me… I don’t care what it is. I will try my best to help you, and if I don’t know the answer I will direct you to someone who will.
There is nothing ever so bad that you can’t make it through it, and there is nothing ever that will hold you down other than your own mind. Let me help you…
Here we go!
Dear Michelle,
What is the best brand of curling irons? I am looking for a new one since the Conair brand that I have (it’s either hot or off) makes me feel like I’m not getting the most out of it. I don’t know how old the curling iron is, I got it from my aunt when she was cleaning out her closet.
Love, Closet lovin’ Curls.
Well, Closet Curls, the best way to get the most from your curling iron is to use it on the best setting for your hair. Honestly, I never seem to have good luck with the ‘all or nothing’ curling irons myself… So, I’m going to suggest sinking a little money into going to your local beauty supply. You can usually pick up a professional hot tool for a fraction of the cost. If you are in the Chicago-land area your local Sally’s Beauty Supply should have the “better” brands that are good prices. Have you tried the new no clip curling irons? If you hair is longer I personally love this one…
Dear Michelle,
I have long hair and I’ve been told that braiding it before you go to sleep is a good thing to do. Is this true?

Dear Michelle,Is it healthy for me not to use conditioner in my hair? I notice that between different kinds of conditioners that my hair either goes flat or gets greasy right afterwards. Is there a special way to apply conditioner?-Silky in St Louis.
