TV Goes to Hell: An Unofficial Road Map of Supernatural, edited by Stacey Abbott and David Lavery, is a post-season-five collection of scholarly essays on the subject of Supernatural. Subjects of the essays range from a discussion of music in the show to a discussion of “rural masculinity” in the show to a discussion of fangirls in and of the show. There’s also a one-paragraph guide to every episode. I found that every single essay made me sit and think—that’s why this review is so late.
