Raylan’s (Timothy Olyphant) ex-wife, Winona (Natalie Zea), did something stupid in tonight episode. While putting away files in the evidence locker she found a box full of one hundred dollar bills. Since she’s been having money troubles she decided to take one. She wasn’t sure if it was real and took it to the bank to see if it was. She changes her mind at the last minute and is about to leave the bank when it’s robbed. The bank robbers take the bill from her and leave.
Meanwhile, Boyd (Walton Goggins) and Eva (Joelle Carter) are covering for each other about the money missing from the mine. Boyd convinced Eva to lie for him so they could keep the money. Money seems to be a recurring problem in Harlan County.
Winona find out that it’s standard practice for the Marshal’s to scan all money that goes into evidence to check for counterfeits. She panics and tells Raylan what she did. If the bill she took is found in with the robbery money they will know it was taken from evidence. Now Raylan has to figure out how to be the first one on scene to recover the bill.
The people on this show get themselves into more trouble. Boyd can’t seem to stay away from shady characters. Winona’s husband mortgages the house to buy a horse. Don’t even make me list the things Raylan does because it will take me forever. I think that’s what I love about this show. Everyone in the town is just trying to stay afloat any way they can. If it means dealing or becoming the bad element, so be it. Just make sure you have a good alibi.
