Supernatural episode review 6.01 exile on main street

This is the day that we have all been waiting for. The premiere of the new season of Supernatural season 6, and I have to admit I really do not know how I feel about the episode. I’ll start with the things that I loved and go from there.

  1. Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) was fantastic. In this episode we get to see a different side of dean that we don’t usually get to see. I think I like OCD Dean. The show starts off with then and now flashbacks- I really liked that… then it goes into Dean and his daily routine. He’s checking the locks before going to sleep, he sleeps with holy water and a shotgun under the bed, he has a pick up truck, he works in construction, and its nice to see that hes faithful to Lisa.
  2. I love Sam’s car!! He’s driving a dodge charger which I happen to think is SEXY AS HELL!
  3. I loved the feel of this episode. I loved how they jumped right back into the monster of the week without really jumping right into it. I like that they are touching on new things, and talking about the old too.

BUT- Here’s what I dont like/or understand…

  1. Jared Pada-hotty I mean Padalecki- what happened to you? There is something radically off here with you and Sam… I do not know what it is, but you better find that mojo and you better do it now! Sam Winchester is not right this season. There is something off.. I can not put my finger on it, but its certainly not what I am used to. He seems to have no emotion.
  2. THE CAMPBELL’s? No I do not like it… Gramps has got to go. This is Dean and Sam- not Dean, Sam, Gramps, some weird guy, some other weird guy, and a chick with a bad accent. I was watching it and going over and over in my mind “wait what? who are you again?” AND since when does Dean take orders from a no name weirdo with a bad hair-cut!? It just doesn’t fit I don’t really understand what they are doing with that storyline, but I guess we will wait and see.
  3. Dean staying with Lisa? Dean leaving Lisa? I really don’t know which idea I like better? I would like to see them more as a happy couple instead of a routine… it looks more like a routine to me then love. OR maybe it’s supposed to be that way?
  4. Where’s the brothers? Where’s the love? Sam is so shut off to the world! HE DOESN’T WANT TO TAKE THE IMPALA? HE LIKES HOW HIS CAR IS SET UP? REALLY??!

This season is getting off to a different start… it maybe a whole different idea now…. what do all my die hard Supermatural fans think? Anything I missed?

    I agree on all counts! Jared did an excellent job of showing just how badly damaged Sam has been by the last two (three?) years. It was creepy and I would like to have it fixed now, please *shudder*

    And Jensen was amazing as Dean. It was so painful watching Dean struggle to be normal and try to fit in without giving up everything that makes him who he is.

    Definitely don’t want the Campbells hanging around. I hated how contemptuous they were of Dean and I’m pretty sure they are actually up to no good. I’ll be glad to see the end of them.

    I was very nearly dreading this episode, but I was pleasantly surprised by liking it way more than I thought I would. Looking forward to next week!

    @Kelios,
    yay! I am so glad that you agree! thanks for reading!

    I am excited to see how the story is going to pan out the next couple weeks. I do think Jared does a great job acting out the part of Sam… I just miss my sweet “Sammy” I miss the brotherly love interaction.

    Let’s hope the boys get back on track soon!

    We still don’t know the whole of this new storyline. So I’m staying along for the ride and hope it’s all good. :o )

    Sam of course is off and weird because he’s been in hell’s cage locked in with Lucifer and presumably Michael. Can you imagine the weird junk going on there with those two and Sam caught in the middle? I’m surprised Sam isn’t in an institution and in a straight jacket!

    The Campbell family is weird too. Not sure how that will work out, but I’ll go with it and hope there’s a good reason for them. Grandpa gives me the willies. Not sure how they’ll explain there’s Campbells around since there weren’t supposed to be any left.

    The change in the Djinn was fun and scary. Looking forward to more weird and unusual changes in the monsters.

    I would like to know if Adam got out of hell also and made it back to heaven where he belongs.

    Loved little Ben’s shoes looking like Dean’s shoes. Not sure how they’re going to eventually work them out of the story. I’ll feel bad for Ben losing a father he clearly admires and loves.

    I enjoyed the season opener, but I look forward to more of the story that explains it all.

    I’ve got my salt and holy water ready for the remaining eps!

    @SJ,
    YES!!! I am with ya sister! the Ben/Dean dynamic is so cute! I agree about the Campbell’s- thats strange… I do wish they could find a way to get young Mary and young John in there some how! I love them!

    …and I also look forward to see where they are taking this whole thing. I hope the boys get back together soon :(

    Thank you so much for reading, and for commenting! I love hearing back from everyone!

    Have to say I was disappointed in the premiere. I’m hoping them get better as the season goes on. I just didn’t liek the feel of the whole thing. And your right ALL the Campbells have to go!
